What is laser resurfacing?
CO2 lasers have become the gold standard in treating wrinkles, age spots, acne scars, and other blemishes as well as tightening skin and balancing tone. During this procedure, pulses of laser light beams are directed to the precise area of the skin being treated. These beams vaporize the epidermis, or top layer of skin, encouraging the body to grow new collagen to repair and rejuvenate the area.

The DEKA SmartXide CO2 Laser interface delivers a more aggressive treatment. The DEKA laser is stronger and penetrates the skin at a deeper level. This causes not only the vaporization of the top layer of skin, but also targets the middle layer of skin–both layers of skin will regenerate and grow new collagen to repair thermal damaging.
The Sultra interface provides a gentle, fractional non-ablative thermal collagen stimulation to leave skin smoother, tighter, more even, and younger looking.

During your CO2 Laser treatment
We will first apply a topical numbing cream to make your treatment more comfortable. After 20 minutes, the cream is removed and you are ready to begin. Your eyes will be covered for safety and you will feel the laser as it is activated, but it is not painful. Your skin may feel hot, like a sunburn, for the remainder of the day. Use a fan to provide relief as needed.
After your CO2 Laser treatment
While downtime is minimal, your skin may appear red and feel sunburned for a couple of days. Use only the mildest of products and refrain from using make-up for 3-4 days afterwards. Your skin will feel dry and look “scaly” or like it is peeling for up to a week. Apply sunscreen daily and avoid the sun as much as possible.
When to expect results
Most patients begin to see the results of their CoolPeel® or DEKA laser treatments around the seven day mark. Results continue to improve up to six months following treatment as the skin repairs itself. Depending on your consultation, we may recommend a series of 3-4 treatments 4-6 weeks apart with a follow up treatment every six months to maintain your desired results.
